Follow the Step by Step Guide to test Your Speed.
Step 1: Set a timer for yourself.
You have to read at whatever speed you feel comfortable. In this process you make sure that you don’t go faster or slower than your normal speed and maintain a steady pace through out your reading
Step 2: Mark Your Last Word
The moment one minute is over, you have to mark the spot where you stopped reading, and then just look over to the right hand margin of the page, and you will see a list of numbers.
Significance of Numbers:
These numbers are added to tell you how many words in total you’ve read if you’ve finished that specific line of text.
For example, if at the end of the one minute of reading, you’ve completed the first two paragraphs, then it means that you have completed 250 words. Which means that your reading speed would be 250 words per minute. That’s exactly the speed of average person which is somewhere between the range of 150-250 words per minute through this kind of material.
This is Your Current Reading Speed:
So If you were above 250, which means you’re a faster than average reader. And, of course, if you’re below 150, you’re a little below average. It doesn’t matter if you’re average, above average or even below average, our goal here is to help you make an improvement.
And the good news is that we know where we stand and what is our starting point and now we just have to focus on making progress.
